2010 MVTTC Summer Smash was a great event.  30 players from 5 regional table tennis clubs converged at 2521 Sunset Avenue, Utica, NY to compete in a 2 part tournament.  The stand out players were Muammer Çokyürür,  a university student from Turkey, and Harry Hawk a top player from the Syracuse Table Tennis Club.  Many thanks to the volunteers Louise, Kristina, Dennis, Bruce, Mike and Jimmy and all the others who helped setup and break down the event.  Special thanks to Jack Gebbia for the tournament artwork.

MVTTC Summer Smash 2010

2010 MVTTC Summer Smash is two part 30 player singles tournament presented to foster competition between MVTTC (Mohawk Valley) and STTC (Syracuse) club members and invited players. This event is non-sanctioned and results will not affect a players USATT tournament rating.

Entry fee is $10. Award plaques for 1st and 2nd places in two divisions.

Two stage tournament format

Part 1. Classification matches

Players are ranked by entry rating (USATT tournament rating or club rating if not a member) and assigned tables in zig-zag order. Each table plays a round robin.

Part 2. Division matches and Finals

Finishing position in Part 1 determines the Division you play in. Players in each division form a pool and are ranked by entry rating. Class assignment is done using zig-zag order.

Each Class has 3 knock out matches based on rank within class;  1:6 ,  2:5 , and  3:4 . Winners move on to a round robin to determine the Class winner. Class A & B winners play a final match for 1st and 2nd place in Division 1. Class C, D & E winners play a final round robin to determine 1st and 2nd place in Division 2.
